Zambezi River expedition launches today

The expedition will start at Cazombo locality, Angola’s eastern Moxico province. The Angolan Government and the Programme to Combat to Malaria is heading up Angola’s medical representatives and transport. The timeline for the 2,500 kilometres (1,600 miles) journey is:

Angola launches Zambezi Expedition

Angola will be the starting point for the two-month long Roll Back Malaria Zambezi Expedition, which begins on March 29. US Ambassador pledges $18 million a year to fight malaria

Amidst President George Bush’s recent five country African tour last week, Angola’s US Ambassador, Dan Mozena, announced the US is pledging $USD 18 million to fight against malaria in Angola until 2011. The funds are earmarked for health education and mosquito-net distribution.
